Biometrics technology should be adopted to identify unidentified dead bodies, Amit Shah gave these instructions to officials

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday stressed the need to use biometrics technology to identify unidentified bodies and missing but ‘located persons’. Chairing a review meeting on the implementation of the three new criminal laws with the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Shah also stressed on the use of technology in all matters of criminal investigation. he/she said alerts should be issued in pre-determined stages for all cases. There should be a time limit from registration to disposal of the case for the benefit of the victims and complainants. Shah said that biometrics technology should be adopted for identification of unidentified bodies and unidentified persons. According to an official statement, Shah said that sending regular alerts to investigating officers as well as senior officials as per pre-determined timelines will help in expediting the investigation process.

The meeting reviewed the implementation and integration of Crime and Criminal Identification Network and System (CCTNS) 2.0 and ICJS, new criminal laws and National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS), prisons, courts, prosecution and forensics with ICJS 2.0 at all India level. Was done.

The statement said that during the discussion, the Home Minister asked the NCRB to facilitate full implementation of the new criminal laws in ICJS 2.0. he/she stressed on the use of applications like e-Sakshya, Nyay Shruti, e-Sign and e-Summon in every state and union territory.

Shah said a team of officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, NCRB should visit the states and Union Territories to increase the adoption of technology projects and assist in every possible way. he/she stressed on regular communication with senior police officers of States and Union Territories to regularly monitor the progress of CCTNS and ICJS and to provide impetus to the project.
