Billionaires decline in the world, increase in India


New Delhi. Due to the turmoil in the global economy, there has been a decline in the number of billionaires in the world and it has decreased by 8 percent, but its effect on India has decreased and instead of decreasing, billionaires have increased rapidly. This thing has come to the fore in the M3M Hurun Global Reach List. Among the new billionaires who have emerged in India, Rekha Jhunjhunwala is on top.

Earning of Indians equal to GDP of Hong Kong in 5 years
Even in terms of earnings, Indian billionaires continue to dominate the world, even though there has been a sharp decline in the wealth of Gautam Adani and others this year, but if we look at the figures of the last five years, the wealth of the Indian rich has increased rapidly. According to Hurun, all the billionaires of India have earned a total of 360 billion dollars i.e. about 30 lakh crore rupees in five years, which is almost equal to the GDP of Hong Kong.

According to the report of Hurun, in the year 2022, the total number of billionaires in the world was 3,384, which has come down to 3,112 in 2023. If you look at the list of new billionaires, in the year 2023, 176 new billionaires have been made in 99 cities of the world. If we talk about India, there are a total of 187 billionaires living in the country, while the total number of billionaires of Indian origin is 217. This figure is the third largest after America and China. The list includes those rich whose net worth is more than Rs 8,000 crore. Mayanagari Mumbai is home to 66 billionaires. After the demise of Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, a veteran stock market investor and known as Bigbull, his/her business is being handled by his/her wife Rekha Jhunjhunwala and is continuously taking it forward. he/she has been placed at number one in Hurun’s list of New Indian Billionaires. That is, his/her wealth is the highest in the list of newly joined billionaires.
