Opposition meeting in Patna: The first general meeting of 15 opposition parties took place in Bihar’s capital Patna on Friday. The differences between the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party were clearly visible in the meeting. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has distanced itself from the campaign for opposition unity. Angered by the silence of the Congress regarding the central government’s ordinance, AAP has taken this step.
AAP decided to separate
The party has stuck to the condition that unless the Congress declares its support against the Delhi ordinance, it is very difficult for it to join. This was the reason that angry Kejriwal left the meeting silently. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, MP Raghav Chadha and Sanjay Singh, who came with him/her, also did not appear in the press conference. Later, the party issued a statement on its Facebook page saying it would be difficult for AAP to participate in future meetings of like-minded parties in which the Congress is participating.
The participating opposition parties unanimously agreed on the roadmap for 2024. It was decided that everyone would unite and contest the Lok Sabha elections and oust the BJP from power at the Centre.
The Congress had a significant presence in the general meeting convened by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge made it clear that each state would have to work differently. At the same time, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi also made it clear that we have to work by adopting a flexible approach.
According to the report of Dainik JagranIn the general meeting which lasted for more than three hours at the CM residence, it was decided that a meeting would be held in Shimla from July 10 to 12 to further expand this initiative of opposition unity. At the same time, it will be decided that which party has to be forwarded and who will fight from where.
