Big update regarding ISRO’s Gaganyaan mission, initial training of both Indian astronauts completed

New Delhi: There is a big update regarding the Gaganyaan mission of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). Both Indian astronauts, Captain Shubhanshu Shukla and Captain Prashant Balakrishnan Nair, have completed initial training for ‘Axiom Mission 4’ in the US. This mission is for the International Space Station (ISS). This is a joint effort of ISRO and NASA. This training started in the first week of August 2024. In this mission, Indian astronauts will conduct scientific experiments on the International Space Station.

Initial training of Gaganyatri completed

ISRO said that both Gaganyatri Captain Shubhanshu Shukla of Prime Group and Captain Prashant Nair of Backup Group will go to ISS under ‘Axiom Mission 4’. This mission is an important part of the partnership between ISRO and NASA. Both Gaganyatri are undergoing training in America since the first week of August 2024 and have successfully completed the initial phase. In the initial training, Gaganyatri visited ground facilities. he/she also made an initial observation of the launch phase of the mission.

The fitting check of the SpaceX suit and selection of food options in space were also part of this training. Overall, this was an important phase of initial preparation. During the training, the astronauts were given information about the ‘SpaceX Dragon’ spacecraft and various systems of the ISS. ISRO said that during the training, training to deal with medical and other emergencies in space was also included. This is extremely important for the safety of astronauts. In this phase of training, Gaganyatri has completed initial training activities including visiting the mission related facilities on the ground, initial observation of the launch phase of the mission, fitting check of the SpaceX suit and selecting space food options.

ISRO told where the further training will take place

The Indian space agency said further training will focus on the remaining modules of the American Orbital Segment of the International Space Station. Apart from this, in different sessions during the training, the astronauts were made aware of the various systems of the ‘SpaceX Dragon’ spacecraft and the International Space Station. They were briefed on photography from space, daily operational routines and communication protocols.

Apart from this, during the mission, training will also be given for conducting scientific investigation experiments in micro gravity environment. This will be very important for research.
