New Delhi: The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, in collaboration with The Art of Living, to take forward the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) campaign with global spiritual humanitarian leader Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Dr. Virendra Kumar, Hon’ble Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India , signed an MoU in the presence of Saurabh Garg, Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, and Radhika Chakraborty, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, to achieve the goal of de-addiction.

“Like soldiers fighting to protect the country, we are fighting against drugs within the country”

During the launch of the campaign, Sri Sri Ravishank said, “This is an important campaign. Just like we have soldiers fighting to protect the country, similarly we are fighting against drugs within the country. We have to make this campaign successful as soon as possible, save India. The identity of our country is our youth and if our youth take drugs then the future of our country starts getting blurred. Our youth have a lot of promising potential to flourish in life, but drug addiction robs not only the individual but their family, society and nation of that strength.

“We are waging a proxy war against drugs”
Endorsing the vision and thoughts of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Dr. Kumar also shared his/her views saying, “We are proud to be associated with Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and The Art of Living. There is a big challenge before our country. We are waging a proxy war against those who are trying to push our youth towards drugs. Stopping this is not only the responsibility of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, but to end this menace, everyone including NGOs, faith groups, self-help groups will need to come forward.

Explain that Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, NMBA is an initiative to tackle the countrywide problem of substance abuse by targeting vulnerable groups and general public through awareness, mass movement and community outreach.

Art of Living’s efforts towards de-addiction
The Art of Living has been working to fight the drug menace for several decades, helping thousands of people come out of the vicious cycle of drug addiction with a success rate of over 60%, which is the average success rate. is twice as The Art of Living’s PRAN (Program for Release from Addiction Naturally) programs provide effective support for people affected by addiction to alcohol, drugs, gutkha, tobacco, cigarettes, or other substances. In Pune, earlier this year, Gurudev inspired over 1.5 lakh youth to say no to drugs for life.

The Art of Living is taking the message of ‘Say No to Drugs’ to youth, women, self-help groups by organizing awareness programs on its own and programs on healthy lifestyle methods including yoga, breathing and meditation through its centers across the country. Will be engaged in reaching every corner of the country including vulnerable groups and population.
