Big changes are going to happen in UGC graduation and post graduation courses, these new rules will be implemented for the benefit of students.

UGC UG-PG Courses Admission: The system of exams and evaluation will also change for students taking admission in Graduation (UG) and Post Graduation (PG) courses from 2025-26. The exam held at the end of a semester will no longer be the only basis for evaluation or marks, rather the rule of continuous evaluation is now going to be implemented in every course. Option of offline- online and oral exam.

The pattern of written examination which has been going on for years in university examination will change. The Academic and Executive Council of the University will decide what will be the exam pattern in different subjects. Along with offline, there will be pattern of online and oral exam also. Exams will also be held in hybrid mode. There will also be an oral exam. Oral examination is a type of examination in which the teacher asks questions orally to a student to assess his/her/her knowledge on a topic.

At the same time, the scope of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) in the exam pattern will also increase. Now the score will be decided for the oral examination also. Student’s communication skills, ability to present his/her/her point, field work will also be given importance. You will also get a chance to learn by going to the industry.

No discrimination in 12th class from regular school or open school system

In the new rules of UGC, it has been made clear that whether the student has passed 12th from regular school or has passed out from the open school system, there will be no discrimination against him/her. Students passing both systems will be eligible for admission to graduation and integrated undergraduate/post graduate degree programmes. While making merit, students cannot be discriminated against on the basis that they have completed their studies through open school system.

Refund rules for exiting students

If a student exits after the first year or second year during graduation, he/she can now easily return. UGC Chairman Prof. M. Jagadish Kumar says that the student can return within three years. If someone exits after the first year, he/she can take admission in the second year within three years. If you exit after the second year, you can return within three years even in the third year. There is no upper limit for multiple entry and exit system, student can easily withdraw.

NBT lens – Universities will have to make important changes

To implement the new system implemented by UGC for graduation and PG courses, the university will have to make necessary changes as soon as possible through the Academic Council and Executive Council. There will be changes in exam pattern and attendance system and old patterns will have to be changed. The university will also have to decide afresh the conditions of attendance rules according to each course. A student can do two courses simultaneously, admissions will be done twice a year, in such a situation, if the universities are lax, it will be difficult to implement the new rules.
