Bibek Debroy: Well-known economist and writer Bibek Debroy passes away, also had a special place in PM Modi’s team

New Delhi: Well-known economist and writer Bibek Debroy has passed away. Bibek was also the chairman of the Economic Advisory Council of Prime Minister Modi. he/she has also written easy translations of all the Puranas into English for the new generation. Bibek Debroy was 69 years old. he/she was also awarded Padma Shri in the Modi government. Those who knew him/her are in shock due to his/her sudden demise.Had a special place in PM Modi’s team also
Bibek Debroy was the chairman of the Economic Advisory Council to Prime Minister Modi. In September, Debroy had resigned from the post of vice-chancellor of Pune’s Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE). Then the Bombay High Court had earlier given interim relief to the removed Vice Chancellor Ajit Ranade. Not only this, Bibek Debroy was also a very good writer. he/she has also made easy translation of the Puranas into English. he/she did this for the new generation. Delhi AIIMS said in its statement that he/she died at 7 am today due to intestinal obstruction.

Modi also expressed grief
Prime Minister Modi said on the death of Bibek Debroy that Dr. Bibek Debroy ji was a scholar who was well-versed in diverse fields like economics, history, culture, politics, spirituality and much more. Through his/her works, he/she left an indelible mark on the intellectual landscape of India. Beyond his/her contributions to public policy, he/she enjoyed working on our ancient texts, making them accessible to youth.

Who was Bibek Debroy?
Bibek Debroy has received several awards throughout his/her career, including the Padma Shri in 2015. The following year, in 2016, he/she was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the US-India Business Summit. Debroy’s career spanned many roles, including his/her tenure at Presidency College, Kolkata, Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE) in Pune, ) and as a key member of NITI Aayog as of 2019. As an avid writer, he/she wrote several books, research papers and opinion articles, and served as consulting editor for several leading newspapers, where he/she shared insights on economic reforms, railway policy and social inequalities.
