New Delhi: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat has once again spoken in hints about the population of Hindus. Without naming Hindus, he/she expressed concern over the declining population of Hindus in India. Emphasizing the importance of family, he/she said that if the population growth rate of the society falls below 2.1 percent, then the society will not need to destroy anyone, it will itself be destroyed. Therefore, it is very important to have at least three children.
Addressing the ‘Kathle Kul Sammelan’ in Nagpur on Sunday, Bhagwat said, ‘Kutumba i.e. family is a part of the society and every family is its unit. Bhagwat may have given this hint in the context of Hindus, but the reality is that today, how difficult it can be for a common man, who is facing the brunt of inflation and unemployment, to have three children and raise them. Where a good amount of money is spent on the upbringing of just one child. Know how expensive it can be to raise a child in the country.

This year, India took a huge leap in population growth and overtook China to become number one in the world in terms of population. However, the majority in India were Hindus at 80 percent in the last census. Now till this year, due to decrease in their population growth rate, their total population in the country has reduced to only 78.9 percent. At the same time, the Hindu population in the country is still around 100 crores. 95 percent of the world’s Hindus live in India. At the same time, the growth rate of Muslim population in the country has increased.

Before Mohan Bhagwat, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had also appealed to have more than two children. he/she said that people of South Indian states need to have more children. The number of elderly people is increasing in the South. he/she also said that the national fertility rate is 2.1. Whereas in the southern states it is 1.6 percent. The Andhra Pradesh government is also considering giving incentive amount to families having more than two children. The government is also preparing to make a law that only people with more than two children will be eligible to contest local body elections.
