‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ scheme completes 10 years, many initiatives including Mission Vatsalya portal launched

New Delhi: The ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ scheme launched in 2015 has completed 10 years. The Union Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD) organized a program in Delhi on the anniversary of completion of ten years of this scheme, which was brought with the aim of eliminating gender inequality and empowering girls. In this, Union Health Minister JP Nadda said that the success of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ can be seen only through the improvement in sex ratio and delivery of health services to girls in the country. he/she said that the government will ensure that every girl child gets opportunities so that she can emerge as the leader of tomorrow.

On this occasion, Mission Vatsalya Portal, Mission Shakti Portal, Mission Shakti Mobile App and Summary Document of Best Practice were also launched by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. All these schemes go towards empowering the lives of girls. During this, Union Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi said that this scheme has become an important part of social change.

The Union Minister said that this has transformed from a government scheme into a nationwide movement. This journey of ten years has not only brought positive changes in the lives of girls, but has also ensured that they get all the opportunities for education, health and all-round development. The ministry’s data shows that the national sex ratio has improved from 918 in 2014-2015 to 930 in the year 2023-24.

With this, the enrollment rate of girls at secondary level has increased from 75.51 percent to 78 percent. In this program held at Vigyan Bhawan, along with other representatives, District Collector Tina Dabi from Rajasthan represented her state. During this, he/she gave a presentation on desert flight and also gave information about the BBBP scheme being run in the state.

During this time, representatives of many international organizations participated in this program. Programs related to the tenth anniversary of this scheme will be run by the Central Government till March 8. It will culminate on International Women’s Day on March 8. The ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign was launched by PM Modi on January 22, 2015.
