Being fired from job, fake posters of love trap… hateful propaganda of fundamentalists against Hindus in Bangladesh

New Delhi: Amidst the political turmoil in Bangladesh, attacks on Hindus increased significantly. Various types of atrocities were committed on Bangladeshi Hindus. Temples were demolished. Although these direct attacks have now reduced, fundamentalist organizations are still not desisting from harassing and discriminating against Hindus. Taking advantage of the political environment, these organizations are adopting a variety of tactics ranging from violence to social boycott and defamation.

Atrocities on Bangladeshi Hindus increased

Atrocities on Hindus increased in Bangladesh after the resignation of Sheikh Hasina on August 5. There, an interim government was formed under the leadership of Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus, which gave considerable strength to the fundamentalist groups. They are now indulging in violence against the Hindu minorities in Bangladesh. Now they are being fired from government jobs as anti-Hindu incidents take place. Hindus are being dismissed or forced to resign. Especially Hindu teachers and professors in universities are being pressurized to resign.

Being forced to resign from job

According to a report in India Today, Rontu Das, a history professor at Chittagong University in Bangladesh, was forced to resign. he/she received death threats from fundamentalist forces. Das had mentioned the discrimination faced by him/her in his/her resignation. This resignation letter went viral on social media.

Hindus are also being expelled from the police force

This period of pressure on Hindus has not only extended to universities and other educational institutions but has now extended to Hindu cadets posted in the police force. Recently, 252 police sub-inspectors who completed their training at the Sharda Police Academy were dismissed on charges of indiscipline and irregularities, of which 91 were Hindu personnel. These CAT appointments were made during Sheikh Hasina’s tenure.

Apart from this, the passing out parade for more than 60 ASP-rank officers at the Sharda Police Academy, scheduled for October 20, was cancelled, further delaying the appointment of these officers to government roles.

‘Faced discrimination’

Asit, a Hindu cadet, expressed grief over these developments, saying, “Oh my God! My boat sank on the shore. I had to face discrimination in Bangladesh. All I can say is that God will do justice and history will take time.” Justice will be done. History has not forgiven anyone till date. God is witness.

Opportunities are being snatched from Hindus

The Hindu community claims that an atmosphere of hostility is being created, which is costing them their jobs and other opportunities. However, fundamentalist groups allege that the previous Sheikh Hasina government had given priority in recruitment to people close to her Awami League party. Now, with the coming of the new government, these radicals are reportedly targeting individuals, especially Hindus.

love trap propaganda

Apart from discrimination in jobs, an anti-Hindu campaign on the lines of India’s ‘Love Jihad’ is being conducted in Bangladesh. Radical groups have launched a ‘love trap’ campaign alleging that Hindu men are allegedly luring Muslim women into religious conversion. Posters promoting this propaganda have appeared in many areas, in which Muslim women have been appealed to be cautious.
