Beijing’s aggression continues, Taiwan again tracks 12 Chinese ships across the country

Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense (MND) has once again detected eight Chinese naval vessels and four coast guard ships around the country amid continued tensions with Beijing, according to Taiwan News.

Chinese ships were tracked across the country during the last 24 hours till 6 am on Monday (June 3).

In response to the Chinese military’s action, Taiwan also sent naval ships and deployed coastal-based missile systems to monitor the activity of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), Taiwan News quoted MND as saying.

China has intensified its use of grey zone tactics since September 2020 by increasing the number of military aircraft and naval ships around Taiwan.

Grey zone tactics are defined as “an effort, or series of efforts, beyond static-deterrence and reassurance that attempts to achieve one’s security objectives without using direct and massive force.”

So far this month, Taiwan has tracked Chinese military aircraft twice and naval and coast guard ships 22 times.
