New Delhi : The monsoon session of Parliament is going to start from Monday, in which Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget on Tuesday. During this session, the opposition is also preparing to corner the government on issues like ‘NEET’ paper leak and rail security. This session will start from Monday and will run till August 12, in which 19 meetings will be held. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has called an all-party meeting before the budget session. In this meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju will meet the leaders of all parties. During this, the issues arising in the budget session will be discussed. The government can introduce six bills in this session, including a bill to replace the 90-year-old Aircraft Act. Apart from this, approval will also be sought from Parliament for the budget of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

This session of Parliament, which started on 22 July, will end on 12 August. There will be 19 meetings during this period. This budget session is important in many ways. This will be the last full budget of the second term of the Modi government. Along with this, this will also be the last full budget before the Lok Sabha elections to be held in 2024. In such a situation, it is believed that the government can make many big announcements in this budget. Six bills are expected to be introduced by the government in this session. These include a bill to change the 90-year-old Aircraft Act. In this session, Parliament will also approve the budget of Jammu and Kashmir. At present, the Legislative Assembly does not exist in this Union Territory and it is ruled by the Center.

Sitharaman will also table the Economic Survey in Parliament on Monday. Finance Minister Sitharaman is scheduled to present the Union Budget on July 23. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has called a meeting of leaders of political parties in Parliament today to understand the issues they want to raise during the session. The Biju Janata Dal led by former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced that it will play the role of a strong opposition and will aggressively raise issues of state interest in Parliament.

The opposition also seems ready for the budget session

Naveen Patnaik, who was elected as the chairman of the BJP Parliamentary Party, has asked his/her party MPs to raise the demand for granting special state status to Odisha. Apart from the Finance Bill, the government has also listed the Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill for introduction, consideration and passing in this session. The Lok Sabha bulletin released on Thursday said that the proposed bill aims to bring more clarity and coordination in the role of various organizations working in the field of disaster management.

These bills can come in this session

The Indian Aircraft Bill, 2024 seeks to replace the Aircraft Act of 1934 to provide enabling provisions for ease of doing business in the civil aviation sector. Other bills to be introduced and passed during the session include the Boilers Bill, Coffee (Promotion and Development) Bill and the Rubber (Promotion and Development) Bill, which replace pre-independence legislation. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has also constituted a Business Advisory Committee (BAC). The BAC sets the agenda for parliamentary business.
