Companies are being investigated in Dubai

The general manager of Smart Travels, Safir Mohammed, said that he/she has seen the campuses of several companies being investigated. “We have heard that the premises of many companies have been investigated recently,” he/she said. he/she also said that the investigation teams have also come in his/her office tower many times in the last few months. Safir Mohammed said, “Working on visit visas has always been illegal, but now the authorities are making sure that everyone should strictly follow the rules.”

Safir Mohammad further said that the number of people who stayed for longer on visit visas since January have reduced by 10 percent. This action is being taken after the end of the visa waiver scheme. A visa waiver scheme was launched from September to December 2024, under which people living longer than the visa period were given a chance to either acquire any other visa (eg work or study visa) or to leave the country without any fine.

Companies breaking rules will be fined heavy

Under the new labor laws, if a company hire people without work permits, it will be fined heavy. The fine amount has increased from 50,000 to 2,00,000 dirhams to 1,00,000-10,00,000 dirhams (about Rs 23 lakh to Rs 2.3 crore). The Ministry of Human Resources and Emirates (Mohre) has clearly stated that working on visit or tourist visa is illegal. Work visas have to be obtained to work legally in the country.
