There is a debate going on about H-1B visa between people and leaders who raise their voice against immigration. Is an H-1B visa needed? Such questions are being raised continuously. Supporters of newly elected President Donald Trump have opposed this visa program the most.
Every year 65 thousand H-1B visas are issued in the US. Apart from this, the government also issues 20 thousand additional H-1B visas, which are given to students studying in America. However, even after this, there is a dispute regarding visa beyond understanding. Now the question is arising that if someone wants to work in America, then what option does he/she have? What are the alternatives to H-1B visa in America?

L-1 Visa: This American visa is given to those people who work in an American company in their country and now want to come to work in the US. It is also called transfer visa. For example, if someone was working in Amazon in India, he/she can get a transfer for a job in the US office of Amazon. To do this they require an L-1 visa. There are two categories of L-1 visa, which include L-1A and L-1B. These are valid for 7 and 5 years respectively.

O-1 Visa: The American government gives these visas to those who have extraordinary talent. People with exceptional abilities in fields like arts, science and sports get this visa. They can come to America and work through this visa. Awards or certificates received at national or international level may also have to be shown at the time of applying for visa. O-1 visa is valid for three years, which can also be extended for one year.

F-1 Visa: F-1 visa is given to students going to America for studies. Although this visa is available for studies, but through programs like Optional Practical Training (OPT), Indian students can also get jobs in America. The best thing is that the OPT program is for one year, but if someone has studied Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths i.e. STEM related courses, then he/she can also take a two-year STEM OPT extension.

J-1 Visa: This visa from the US government is for exchange visitors. Many universities and institutions in America run educational and cultural exchange programs, through which students or people from universities or institutions of another country are invited to America. Students coming to America to study under the exchange program have to return to the country within two years of completing the course. During this time they can also do job in America.
