Bansuri Swaraj took oath in Sanskrit, reminded of mother Sushma, watch video

New Delhi: Many MPs took oath as Members of Parliament for the 18th Lok Sabha on Monday. The oath taken by Bansuri Swaraj, BJP MP from New Delhi Lok Sabha seat and daughter of former Union Minister Sushma Swaraj, is much talked about. She took oath in Sanskrit language like her mother. Earlier, when Sushma Swaraj was elected MP from Vidisha Lok Sabha seat in 2014, she too took oath as a Member of Parliament in Sanskrit.

Bansuri Swaraj has reached Parliament for the first time

The video of Bansuri Swaraj’s swearing-in is going viral on social media. Bansuri’s video is being shared with an old video of her mother Sushma Swaraj. Let us tell you that Bansuri Swaraj has reached Parliament for the first time by winning the Lok Sabha elections. She won from New Delhi constituency in her first Lok Sabha election. She defeated Somnath Bharti of Aam Aadmi Party by a margin of 78,370 votes.

Bansuri Swaraj shared the video of the swearing-in ceremony on Twitter and said, “Today I have the honour of taking oath as a Member of Parliament of the 18th Lok Sabha as a representative of the New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency. Under the talented leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are all committed to fulfilling the resolve of a developed, prosperous and self-reliant India.”

Linguistic diversity seen during oath taking ceremony

When the newly elected members of the Lok Sabha took oath on Monday, a glimpse of India’s linguistic diversity was seen. Most of the members took the oath in Hindi, while many members affirmed truth and allegiance in Sanskrit, Assamese, Maithili, Telugu, Punjabi and other Indian languages. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the first to take oath as a member of the House on the first day of the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha and he/she took the oath in Hindi. After he/she took the oath, many members from the ruling party also raised slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’. Apart from Bansuri Swaraj, Krishna Prasad Tenneti of TDP and Chintamani Maharaj of BJP also took oath in Sanskrit.
