Bangladesh: Mob Vandalieses Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s Residence in Dhaka




The Dhaka Tribune reported that a mob vandalized the residence of Bangladesh founder leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Dhaka on Wednesday evening. The scene showed flames on one of the floor of the house.

Allegedly, the protesters demanded a ban on the Awami League, after breaking the gate, there was a storm in the premises, causing widespread destruction, the Dhaka Tribune described the UNB citing UNB.

Local media added opposition to an online speech by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Social media posts had earlier asked for a “bulldozer procession” for the residence of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, which is located in Dhanmond -32, if Sheikh Hasina made a speech, as the Dhaka Tribune reported. By 10.45 am (local time), an excavator was brought to demolish the house. The protesters, who arrived at a rally around 8 pm, forced the property to break their way before moving into the main gate before proceeding to vandalism.

The Dhaka Tribune reported that many protesters allegedly climbed the second floor using hammer, craub and wooden planks to destroy the paintings of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and destroy the paintings of the historic house.

Earlier in the day, Hasanat Abdullah, the convenor of the anti-discrimination student movement, posted on Facebook: “Tonight, the land of Bangladesh will be freed from fascism.” The Dhakar Tribune reported that other figures, including other figures, the convenor of Mancha Mancha and members of Jayatio Nagoric Committee also share the posts shared.

This was not the first time Dhanmandi 32 residence was targeted. Earlier on August 5, the protesters first attacked the house, causing destruction and parts of it, stating the tribune.
