‘Banarakas’ of ‘Panchayat’ have not received the money due for these films yet, told about their condition


Durgesh Kumar, who became famous in every household by playing the character of Bhushan aka Banarakas in the web series ‘Panchayat’, recently talked about his/her career and struggle in an interview. Durgesh Kumar started his/her career with Imtiaz Ali’s film ‘Highway’. he/she also worked in Salman Khan starrer ‘Sultan’, but got popularity from ‘Panchayat’. But Durgesh Kumar is sad that many casting directors and producers did not pay him/her for his/her work and even today the money for many films is pending. Durgesh Kumar talked about this in an interview given to our associate ‘ETimes’. Durgesh Kumar was asked if he/she ever got caught in the trap of casting directors or producers and did not get paid for his/her work.

To this, Durgesh Kumar replied, ‘Yes, this has happened many times. Let me tell you, people who pay the right amount are very few. Till date, I have not received Rs 12,000 for ‘Bahan Hogi Teri’. I had scenes with Abhishek Bachchan in ‘The Big Bull’ and Rs 8,000 is still due to him/her. I worked in an independent film called ‘Sisters’, and the cheque for Rs 50,000 has not yet arrived. So such incidents are a part of an actor’s life.’

‘I will not compromise for 10-20 thousand rupees’

When Durgesh Kumar was asked about his/her financial condition now, he/she said, ‘It is challenging. People often put me in a situation where I have to save every penny. But I have taken a firm decision and that is that I will not settle for less than what I deserve. If the work is in line with my values, I am ready to put in extra effort. I have been in Mumbai for 12 years. Everyone knows my dedication. It is wrong to think that when I have honed my talent for 12 years, I will settle for Rs 10-20 thousand. Respect and fair salary should go hand in hand.’

Durgesh Kumar told that now he/she has settled in Mumbai. he/she also has a small house here, where he/she lives alone. Durgesh Kumar’s family lives in Darbhanga. he/she is not married yet and his/her family is looking for a match.
