Balochistan: Families protest against forced disappearance of Zaman Jaan, Abul Hasan




Families and loved ones of abducted persons protested on Tuesday on M-8 CPEC Highway in Hoshab area of ​​Kech district of Balochistan for the immediate release of the victims.

Balochistan Post identified the kidnapped men as Zaman Jan and Abul Hasan, whose family was on strike to protest against their enforced disappearance. The road was closed, causing long queues of vehicles on both sides.

Reports suggest that Zaman Jan, son of Sipahan Jan, and Abul Hasan, son of Rahmat, were forcibly disappeared along with Altaf, son of Bahram, on 16 December this month, who were later released. A protest began on Tuesday, with the families demanding the immediate return of Zaman Jan and Abul Hasan.

According to Balochistan Post, the families reported that during a press conference on 20 December, as the stipulated three-day grace period has ended, there has been no response or update on the missing persons. They claim that District Council Chairman Mir Hothman had invited their relatives to his/her home, where they were later forcibly disappeared.

Expressing grief, a relative said, “We had given an ultimatum of three days in our press conference. Still no information has been given about our loved ones. If they are not recovered, the protests will continue,” Balochistan Post reported.

The families have urged the public to support their protest and promised to maintain a road blockade on CPEC Road in Hoshab until Zaman Jan and Abul Hasan return safely.

Earlier, the Baloch Yakzehti Committee expressed grief over the enforced disappearance of these persons and said, “We strongly support the family members of the forcibly disappeared and stand by their three-day deadline for action. We urge civil society, the judiciary and people from all walks of life to stand in solidarity with the families of the forcibly disappeared.
