Baloch activist calls for unity against alleged government atrocities in Balochistan




Mehrang Baloch, central organizer of Baloch Yakzehti Committee, called for Baloch unity against “repressive state policies” and ongoing atrocities in Balochistan, Balochistan Post reported.

Addressing a gathering in Bolan’s Machh, Baloch condemned the alleged actions of the Pakistani state against the Baloch people, and highlighted the widespread human rights violations taking place in the region.

“Simply put, the Baloch people cannot live freely in their homeland,” Mehrang Baloch said, emphasizing the systemic oppression that affects not only men, but also women and children.

They accused the state of forced displacement, enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings, and highlighted the discovery of mass graves across the region. he/she talked about mutilated bodies, showing signs of severe torture, that were dumped in remote areas as a form of intimidation, The Balochistan Post reported.

The activist criticized the exploitation of Balochistan’s natural resources by the Pakistani state and argued that military posts were being established in the region to further suppress the Baloch people. According to the Baloch, the absence of basic rights such as freedom of expression and the right to peaceful assembly reflects the oppressive system the Baloch face.

Mehrang Baloch warned that anyone in Balochistan who would dare to challenge the state’s actions would face imprisonment or worse. “The state hides these actions under the guise of security and legal justification, yet they fundamentally contradict the principles of justice and humanity,” he/she said. The activist said that Balochistan is the only region where entire families can disappear without a trace.

Calling for action, the Baloch urged greater participation in the upcoming event to be held in Dalbandin on January 25, The Balochistan Post reported, calling it a day to highlight the Baloch issue and alleged state-led atrocities.
