Babar Azam dropped from Pakistan team for the first time, Afridi-Naseem also left out

New Delhi. The new selection committee of Pakistan Cricket Board has dropped former captain Babar Azam from the team. The new selection committee on Sunday announced the Pakistan team for the upcoming second and third Test against England in which the names of Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah are not included. The selectors have taken this decision after Pakistan’s shameful defeat in the first test match. In the first Test match played in Multan, Pakistan had an innings defeat at the hands of England. After this, the new selection committee of PCB has taken this tough step. These three players have been important members of the Pakistan team for the last five years.

Babar Azam has not scored a single half-century since the year 2023, while no century has come from his/her bat. The condition of Naseem and Shaheen is also similar. The bowling of both the bowlers is no longer showing the same edge as before. Babar Azam has scored 352 runs in 17 innings since January 2023 at an average of 20.70, in which 41 runs has been his/her best score. Earlier, he/she had been scoring runs at an average of more than 54 in Tests. In the first Test match played in Multan, Babar Azam scored 30 runs in the first innings while only 5 runs came from his/her bat in the second innings. More than 100 runs were given away from Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah.
