Azharuddin trapped in ‘manipulation’ of Rs 20 crore, ED sent summons, know what is the whole matter


New Delhi. Mohammad Azharuddin seems to be in trouble. Azharuddin has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case. Azharuddin is accused of misuse of funds in Hyderabad Cricket Association. This case is being told of embezzlement of Rs 20 crore. Former Indian captain Azharuddin is to appear before the ED in Hyderabad on Thursday.

According to sources of central investigation agency ED, a case of financial irregularities has come to light in Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). After this, ED had registered a case of money laundering against HCA officials. ED raided 9 places in Telangana and recovered many important documents and digital devices.

ED has filed 3 FIRs
This whole matter is about financial irregularities in the construction of Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. It is alleged that the officials gave contracts to private companies at high rates and caused a loss of crores of rupees to the association. ED has registered three FIRs in this case and further investigation is going on. The investigation is about misuse of funds of Rs 20 crore earmarked for the purchase of DG sets, fire fighting starters and canopies for the stadium.

Shivlal and Arshad Ayub also accused
Association CEO Sunil Kant Bose has complained about corruption in HCA. Apart from Azhar, there are many accused in this case. The main accused include Gaddam Vinod, Shivlal Yadav, Arshad Ayub. A company named SS Consultant Private Limited and Satyanarayan, who was the MD of the company, have also been made accused. However, Azharuddin has completely denied the allegations against him/her.

Azhar will not take part in the interrogation process
Mohammad Azharuddin did not reach the ED office for questioning on Thursday. According to the source, Azharuddin has sought three-four weeks’ time from the investigating agency. Azhar has said that he/she is busy in view of the possible Maharashtra elections.

After retiring from cricket, Azhar has entered the field of politics. he/she has been a Lok Sabha member in 2009. Azhar has also been the working president of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee.
