New Delhi. World champion Australia’s winning streak in ODI cricket has finally come to a halt. The Kangaroos, who have been winning continuously for almost a year, have suffered a defeat this time against England. England defeated Australia in the third match of the 5-match ODI series. This is Australia’s first defeat after 14 consecutive victories.

The third ODI match was played between Australia and England on Tuesday at Chester Lee Street. Australia scored a strong score of 304 runs in this match. In response, England showed a game of badball and scored runs in a stormy manner. Host England knew that rain could come anytime. Due to this also they batted fast. English captain Harry Brook did not care about the early wickets falling and scored runs rapidly. As a result, when rain came in the 38th over, England was 46 runs ahead of the target as per Duckworth Lewis rule. In this way, they won this match by 46 runs.

Australia has suffered defeat in ODI cricket after 348 days. Earlier, it had to face defeat against South Africa in the ICC World Cup 2023. England has also made a comeback in the 5-match series by defeating Australia. However, even after this victory, it is trailing 1-2. If the host team has to win the series, then it will have to win both the remaining matches. Australia can win the series even by winning one match.

Partnership of 156 runs in 147 balls
Apart from captain Harry Brook, Will Jacks also played an important role in England’s victory in the third ODI. Both of them came together at the crease when England had lost 2 wickets for 11 runs. Despite the pressure, both the batsmen retaliated against the Australian bowlers. Harry Brook and Will Jacks shared a 156-run partnership in 147 balls at a strike rate of over 6. This partnership was broken by the dismissal of Will Jacks, who scored 84 runs in 82 balls. After his/her dismissal, Jamie Smith (7) also returned to the pavilion early. Captain Harry Brook still stood firm and returned unbeaten after scoring 110 runs in 94 balls. he/she got excellent support in the form of Liam Livingstone. When the game was halted due to rain and England was declared the winner, Livingstone was unbeaten after scoring 33 runs in 20 balls.
