ISL 2023: In ISL 2023, the final match was played between ATK Mohun Bagan and Bengaluru FC on Saturday. It was an unforgettable evening for football fans at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa. When the team of ATK Mohun Bagan emerged as the new champions after defeating Bengaluru FC in the final of ISL 2022-23. Dimitri Petratos scored twice for ATK Mohun Bagan while Sunil Chhetri and Raikrishna scored for Bengaluru FC. In the end the match was decided by a penalty shootout. In which Mohun Bagan won the match by 4-3.

Talk about the match, in the 14th minute of the first half, ATK Mohun Bagan’s Dimitri Petratos scored the first goal of the match with the help of a penalty to give the team a 1-0 lead. ATK Mohun Bagan held on to that lead throughout the first half but Sunil Chhetri equalized for Bengaluru FC in extra time of the first half. Let us tell you that except one goal in this match, all the other goals were scored with the help of penalty. When the first half of the match ended, the match came on par and both the teams scored 1-1 goals.

In the second half, Bengaluru FC took the lead through a field goal from Roy Krishna but once again the story took a turn when Petratos scored his/her second of the match from the penalty spot in the 85th minute. Both the teams played brilliantly till the full time of the match and the score ended in a 2-2 draw. Extra time was then added to the match. Neither team scored a single goal in the extra 30 minutes given to both the teams. With this the match was now to be decided in a shootout. ATK Mohun Bagan prevailed in the shootout and won the match by a margin of 4-3. With this win, ATK Mohun Bagan lifted their maiden ISL trophy. Earlier the team had not won this trophy till date.
