At the age of 38, Ashwin did wonders, created history against Bangladesh


New Delhi. Ravichandran Ashwin, who was the hero of India’s victory in the Chennai Test against Bangladesh, played a wonderful game. While batting, he/she scored a century in difficult times and then single-handedly turned the match in India’s favour by taking 6 wickets in bowling. In this match, 38-year-old Ashwin did something that no Indian had done before. he/she has become the oldest player to take 5 wickets in an innings from Team India.

The first match of the Test series being played between India and Bangladesh was a one-sided one. After winning the toss and bowling first in the first innings, the visiting team took 6 wickets of India for 144 runs. The Indian team seemed to be on the backfoot in the match but R Ashwin turned the match around by making a tremendous partnership with Ravindra Jadeja. Ashwin played a brilliant century innings while Jadeja scored a half-century. India scored 376 runs in the first innings and took a lead of 227 runs by bowling out Bangladesh for 149 runs. In the second innings, India declared the innings at 287 runs for 4 wickets and gave Bangladesh a target of 515 runs. On the fourth day of the match, the visiting team was bowled out for 234 runs.
