Ashwin became translator for Akash Deep, Virat is eager to play a big innings- Rohit

Kanpur. As soon as Team India’s practice session ended, it started raining at Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium. However, this was an optional practice session just a day before the match in which batsmen like captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill did not practice. At the same time, experienced bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj were also missing from the field. But, the reason for this was also that every player sweated a lot in the practice session of about 3 hours on Wednesday. Recently, it is very interesting to watch Rohit and Virat Kohli during the nets. It seems that a mountain of stress has been removed from the heads of both the players after the T20 World Cup. You will often see these two together and most of the time in a joking mood.

It seems as if the era of 2008-10 has gone back when both these young players were trying to establish themselves in Team India. And they were being seen as very talented players. Another regular player of that era, Gautam Gambhir, is now the head coach of this team and you can often see him/her smiling, contrary to his/her serious image. Especially, when he/she is seen with his/her team mates. A similar scene was seen on the pitch just a day before the Test match when Gambhir and Rohit Sharma strolled to bowling coach Morne Morkel and Ravichandran Ashwin.
Later, when this writer asked Ashwin himself about that conversation on his/her Hindi YouTube channel, he/she jokingly avoided the question. But, later he/she definitely told that for Morkel, he/she was playing the role of a translator for his/her young fast bowler Akash Deep. Ashwin also told how Morkel wanted to know from him/her how spinners tighten the screws so well on Indian pitches.

Not only the bowling coach of Team India, these 6 cricketers fell in love with sports anchors, 2 Indians in the list

This happened for the first time in 147 years of Test history… Is it a bat or a hammer, a 25 year old batsman made a world record

There was a little surprise when Kohli, who had practiced batting for about 40 minutes on Wednesday, reached the nets to bat on Thursday as well. Usually, Kohli also takes rest during the optional nets session on the day just before the match. But, the challenge on the slow-spin pitch of Kanpur may be different and Kohli may be working on a different strategy for it. By the way, on Wednesday, when Akshar Patel bowled him/her out after tricking him/her with one of his/her spinning deliveries, he/she became happy like a child and celebrated, to which Kohli, laughing, tried to tell him/her jokingly that there is nothing like that!

Well, one thing that Kohli probably cannot ignore as a joke is that just before the Australia tour, he/she has to present his/her old era of prowess to the world again. Kohli, who could not even score a half-century in both the innings of the Chennai Test, is well aware of how his/her contemporaries Joe Root and Kane Williamson are showing a different consistency in the matter of Test centuries. After playing an innings of 136 runs against Bangladesh in Kolkata in November 2019, Kohli has played 30 Test matches in which he/she has scored only 2 centuries. Certainly, these figures do not match the personality of a great player like Kohli. It can be expected that Kohli will definitely get to see a Test century in Kanpur. During this time, Kohli’s Test average (32.72) has also come down much below his/her career average. For Kohli, keeping an average above 50 used to be just a formality till a few years ago. During his/her period of dominance, he/she was able to take his/her average to close to 60.

However, Team India has such a batting order that despite the failure of not only Kohli but also captain Rohit Sharma, it did not face any trouble in Chennai. The reason for this was not only the centuries of Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill but also the brilliant batting of Ashwin and Jadeja as all-rounders. In the first innings in Chennai, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal also made a good start and scored a half-century but could not play a big innings. Perhaps that is why when he/she was batting with Rohit Sharma during net practice, the captain was constantly talking to him/her. Sometimes he/she was seen giving him/her advice, sometimes encouraging him/her and sometimes congratulating him/her on his/her good shots. Ever since Jaiswal started his/her Test career in the West Indies last year, the Indian captain has been trying to mentor him/her in a special way.

Even when Jaiswal’s bat was creating havoc in the last home series against England, Rohit refrained from praising him/her publicly and only when the series ended in Dharamsala did he/she praise the young player. Perhaps Rohit is aware of the challenge of touring Australia a month later and he/she knows how important it is for an opener like Jaiswal to be in excellent form to achieve success there. Anyway, Team India does not need to worry too much about changing its strategy to defeat Bangladesh once again. It is almost certain that instead of a third seamer, a third spinner in the form of Kuldeep Yadav will get a chance here. Team India has won 17 series, winning every Test series at home since 2013. And the historic ground of Kanpur is waiting to witness their 18th series.
