Asha Parekh is touring Kashmir with Helen and Waheeda Rehman, enjoying Srinagar


Famous Bollywood actresses of the 70s, Asha Parekh, Waheeda Rehman and Helen are enjoying their holidays in Kashmir these days and reliving their old days. Recently, one of their pictures went viral on social media, in which all three actresses are riding a houseboat ‘Shikara’ in Dal Lake. In their time, they used to shoot films on the lush green fields and lake of Kashmir. All three actresses remembered these old days. For Asha Parekh, apart from hill stations like Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg, this lake is a reminder of ‘light, camera and action’. One of her most superhit films ‘Dil Deke Dekho’ was shot in Kashmir in 1959. In fact, the reason for her romantic relationship with ‘Dil Deke Dekho’ director Nasir Hussain is her long association with Kashmir.

After this film, her second best film was ‘Phir Wahi Dil Laaya Hoon’ which was shot in Kashmir in 1963. It was directed by Nasir Hussain. After this, Asha Parekh’s another superhit film ‘Mere Sanam’ which was shot in Kashmir in 1965 and ‘Karavan’ came in 1971. ‘Karavan’ was directed by Nasir Hussain.

The small Chinar trees on both sides of the road where the famous song ‘Pukarta Chala Hoon Main’ from the film ‘Mere Sanam’ was filmed have grown tall after so many years. Thus, for Asha Parekh, this vacation is like enjoying her old life again. Waheeda Rehman stayed in the same 5 star hotel where she is staying in Srinagar these days for Yash Chopra’s ‘Kabhie Kabhie’, filmed in the valley in 1976.

Helen has an old bond with Kashmir

Kashmir is a memorable place for Helen, who has worked as a supporting actress in more than a thousand films. She shot many films here, including ‘Junglee’ in 1961, ‘Dus Lakh’ in 1966, ‘Karavan’ in 1971. While having breakfast on the lawn of ‘The Lalita Grand Palace’ hotel, located in front of Dal Lake in Srinagar, three famous personalities of Indian cinema are reliving their past.
