“As a BRICS nation, 100 per cent tariffs will be imposed on them if…”: US President Trump on de-dollarisation


US President Donald Trump on Monday (local time) reiterated his/her threat towards the BRICS countries, saying that the countries which are part of this organization will face 100 percent tariffs on trade with the US if they continue their de-dollarization efforts. Will have to face.

Before taking oath as the 47th President of the US, Trump had threatened the BRICS countries that he/she would impose 100 percent tariffs on all imports from those countries if they dared to launch their own currency.

The BRICS countries were already working on replacing the dollar with a new global currency to reduce its dominance in the global financial system.

During the plenary session of the 15th BRICS summit in 2023 via videoconferencing, Russian President Vladimir Putin called for de-dollarization and stressed that BRICS countries should expand settlements in national currencies and cooperation between banks. Should be increased.
