Arshad Warsi will soon be seen in the film ‘Banda Singh Chaudhary’. While talking to presswire18times.com he/she told why he/she does less films. he/she also revealed that he/she had saved someone from drowning in real life. Know what was said about Prabhas’ statement.

Arshad Warsi, who won the hearts of the audience with his/her comic roles on screen, has been in Bollywood for more than two and a half decades. he/she also played many intense characters, but his/her laughing image has remained firm in the minds of the audience. Arshad, who wants to do Basu Chatterjee type light comedy, is in the news these days with his/her new film ‘Banda Singh Chaudhary’, in which he/she will be seen in a new avatar. A special conversation with him/her.Why do you work so selectively?
-What shall I do? Unless the voice of doing something comes from my heart, I don’t want to do it. I get such nonsense scripts that I feel heartbroken. I don’t do films just for money. The films I have done now are good, which the audience will enjoy. Like this film ‘Banda Singh Choudhary’, Tigmanshu Dhulia’s film ‘Ghamasaan’, then ‘Jolly LLB 3’ will come, then good films will come, I just don’t make much noise about my films.

I just don’t make much noise about my films.

Arshad Warsi

Why did you do the film ‘Bachchan Pandey’?
– I did ‘Bachchan Pandey’ because the director of the film Farhad Samji is my friend. he/she told me that whenever I direct my film, you will have to work in it. But till today, I did only what I liked. It is very difficult, when you are not convinced about the story and character and do a film for money, then you have to face a lot.

Your new film is a story of courage, have you done anything courageous in real life?
-Many times. One happened on the sets of ‘Golmaal’. We were shooting on jet skis in Bangkok. I am an expert in jet ski driving and the other day I was taking my crew for a jet ski round in the ocean. My cameraman said, Sir, do the skit you were doing. I told him/her that the skit was very risky, but he/she started insisting a lot. I did that skit, but during that time the cameraman lost his/her grip and he/she flew off the jet ski and fell into the water, but he/she also made me fall into the water.

Arshad Warsi saved his/her life
Arshad said, ‘Both of us were inside the water and the jet skis were separate and the shore was so far that people looked like ants, the scary thing about that was that the cameraman did not know how to swim. I swam to the surface, but I could not see this man. Now whether I should go towards the jet ski or go into the water to save him/her, I did not think even for a second and became courageous and went to save him/her. To tell you the truth, when I was carrying it from under the water, I thought that we would not be able to escape because it weighed a lot and the strong waves were cutting us. I was about to pass out from exhaustion and the game was about to end when a crew member noticed that we were not on a jet ski and came towards us. Do you know what was the funny thing? After saving him/her, when we reached the shore, he/she looked towards the sky and said, God saved me. I said, Hey I saved you. (Laughs loudly) God was drowning you.

You have also done intense roles in many films and series like ‘Sehar’, ‘Ishqiya’, ‘The Legend of Michael Mishra’ and ‘Asur’, but your comic image has always dominated. What will you say?
-Now people like that more. People don’t like sad stories. he/she likes to laugh. Be it comedy or intensity, I always want to be associated with good characters. I always avoid bad comedy. To be honest, I aspire to do Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s ‘Chupke Chupke’ and ‘Chashme Badur’ type family comedies. But no one is making films like that. The slice-of-life comedy that came out in those films was something different. Whatever comedy I have done has been over the top.

Now that your children have grown up, whether it is comedy or any other character, do you take special care while choosing them that the roles played on screen do not have any bad influence on the children?
-I have always kept in mind that I should not do cheap comedy on screen, because I myself was not comfortable in it. And now that the children have grown up, I am more careful that there is no wrong character. Yes, once the children grow up and start understanding that acting is my profession and the characters I play on screen are acting, then I can play different types of characters.

I myself was careful not to do cheap comedy on screen, because I myself was not comfortable in it.

What was the difficult phase of your career?
-I have never told this to anyone till date, but I am saying it today. The circuit role phase of ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’ was the most difficult phase of my career, because till then I was playing the first or second lead in films and the role given to me in ‘Munna Bhai’ was that of a goon. Which was, in a way, one of the five mustangs of the hero. At that time it was very difficult for me to agree to that role, but after that role everything changed. That small role on the circuit became iconic.

You and Maria have been married for 25 years, how does she fulfill you?
-We also have a lot of fights and 99 percent of the fights are over children, but I believe that marriage and the relationship it is, one should not give up too quickly or easily. Today’s new generation gives up very quickly. If even the slightest thing happens, they run away. From whom will you run? Today you are having a fight with your wife, tomorrow you will marry someone else and you will have a fight with her. Marriage is not trial and error. You have to make it. It also has to be understood that no one is perfect. Neither you nor them. You have to accept what flaws your partner has. Like Maria is very angry. I have accepted him/her. he/she is Hitler inside the house. Children run away like this, don’t ask him/her. Everything should be correct for him/her. But that is the balance between us.

There was a lot of uproar over your statement regarding Prabhas?
-I think it was blown out of proportion. The person who was being talked about had no problem, but the general public, in order to show how much we love you, spread the matter somewhere. Well, everyone has their own emotions. No one understood what I said. Well, these things happen, especially to me.

What was the reason for becoming a part of ‘Banda Singh Chaudhary’?
-Look, we often make films on screen about people who fight in a heroic manner, but we only show films about heroes who show courage. In this, I saw that what would a common man, who is living a normal life, do when he/she gets attacked by this person, because he/she is not a man of violence, so I felt that somewhere This is the story of every common man. The above makes each of us physically different. But there is one common thing he/she gives to all of us and that is courage. It remains to be seen who is able to use that courage and when? Then the stature and status of the person becomes known. Now take the example of Mahatma Gandhi, his/her stature was small, but his/her courage made him/her the Father of the Nation.

Aren’t you surprised that the film’s producer Arbaaz Khan cast you for this film instead of himself? -No, not at all, Arbaaz is a very sweet person and I have known him/her for a long time, so I think as a producer, if I had been in his/her place, I would have done the right casting. Right casting is important for any film. Same thing happened with ‘Jolly LLB’. Director Subhash Kapoor wanted me for this film, but I was not able to meet him/her, there was also the issue of my dates. Then he/she met ten different artists, but things did not work out. Then he/she got Star Plus’s Alif. When he/she asked with whom did he/she want to make it, he/she said Arshad, then I was contacted and I became a part of the film.
