Arijit’s request to his/her fan to not keep food on stage and our Indian culture

Among all the singers of Bollywood till date, Arijit Singh is one who is known for his/her simplicity along with his/her voice. Sometimes he/she is seen carrying a bag and heading out somewhere, and sometimes he/she is seen shopping in the local market on a scooter. On one hand, this shows his/her personality, and on the other hand, it also reflects his/her values. Another example of this was seen when Arijit requested not to keep food on stage while performing in London.

This may seem strange to foreigners, but the Indian customs regarding karma and food are very deep and different. If a person can imbibe these in himself throughout his/her life, then he/she is always looked upon with respect. Let us understand this in a little more detail. The singer later explained that the stage is like a temple for him/her, so he/she cannot allow food etc. to be kept on it. his/her fans are praising this move of his/her.

Even though in today’s times the influence of Western culture is visible in the ways of Indians, there are some lessons related to our roots, which perhaps no one should ever forget.

From childhood itself, we are taught to respect our studies, work and the place related to it. While school is called the temple of knowledge, the workplace is called the temple of karma. These lessons learnt in childhood also make a person understand the importance of these things.

Even today there are many people who are deprived of these things. In such a situation, if you have got the opportunity to get all this, then always respect it and express gratitude.

From religious texts to stories, we are always taught to respect food. Food is associated with Annapurna Devi and is considered to be God’s Prasad. This is the reason why food items are never kept near anyone’s feet.

In India, children are taught from a young age not to waste food, to put only as much on the plate as they can eat, to thank God before taking the first bite, to never refuse a plate of food, not to throw away food, etc.

This is what makes him/her understand the importance of how grateful he/she should be for the enough food he/she is getting.

Apologizing doesn’t make anyone small

Arijit is a big name and his/her fame is also big, still the way he/she apologized with folded hands is the same thing that is taught here.

In India, a person is always taught to stay grounded and keep ego away, no matter how great a person he/she has become.

For this, the example of a tree is often given, like a tree laden with fruits always remains bent, but the trees which do not have fruits always stand stiffly.
