Many times businessmen add husk (outer layer of wheat grain) to wheat flour. The bran itself is nutritious and rich in fiber, but adding poor quality bran to wheat flour can affect the quality, nutrient content, texture and cooking properties of the flour. Eating bread made from such flour can cause many health problems.

If the flour is not adulterated, some parts of the husk may be seen floating on the water. If you see a lot of chaff floating on the water, then understand that bad and excessive chaff has been mixed in your flour.
