Are today’s men learning wrong things from what Ram did to Sita? Sadhguru gave this answer like this

Be it the life of Maryada Purushottam Ram or his/her personality, everyone from small children to adults get to learn many things from him/her. Giving up the entire empire and the king’s throne once his/her father told him/her to go to exile, walking thousands of kilometers for his/her wife and bringing Sita back home after defeating Ravana in the war… such words are given in Ramayana. Who knows how many incidents there are, which probably every Indian remembers by heart. However, there is one incident regarding which many men and women have different thinking.

This is because one side considers it wrong to blame Lord Ram for his/her decision, while the other justifies it. Sadhguru spoke openly about this and with his/her answer removed the negative feelings arising in everyone’s mind. (Sadhguru photo courtesy: Facebook-Sadhguru)

What incident are we talking about?

Everyone will remember that in Ramayana, Mother Sita had to undergo the ordeal of fire in front of Lord Rama and other people. There are different views among people regarding this. Many people raise the question that why was Sita sent into exile and why did she have to go through this ordeal? A similar question was also asked to Sadhguru.

What was the question?

What was the question?

The anchor had asked Sadhguru who participated in the program that the way men treated Mother Sita left an impression on the minds of hundreds of people. For generations, texts like Ramayana and Mahabharata have been sources of many types of learning.

In such a situation, how can we expect that today’s men will not behave with their wives the way they did with Sita or Draupadi? We want to understand how we can stop being influenced by this kind of thing and look at women with respect while bringing about change. And how do we teach our children to do the same?

Would you like to be treated like Sita?

Would you like to be treated like Sita?

Sadhguru answered this question like this. ‘I want to ask all the women whether they would like to be treated like Sita? Let me present this to you from a different perspective. Suppose you are living in Uttar Pradesh 5000 years ago and a man from Sri Lanka kidnaps you.

Would you like a husband who would walk 3000 kilometers to reach Sri Lanka for you or find an alternative nearby because he/she is a king? I want to ask, which kind of man would you like in your life?’

Why did Ram exile Sita?

Then why the ordeal?

Then why the ordeal?

On this answer of Sadhguru, the anchor again asked that if it was like this then why did Sita have to undergo the Agni Pariksha? To this Sadhguru replied, ‘Agni pariksha (trial by fire) does not mean that one had to actually step into the fire.

This means that he/she had to give many types of examinations. Sita had to go through this because Ram was the king and people considered him/her their ideal. How you behave, what you are doing, all this matters a lot as a king, because the life of the entire nation depends on you.

All going through Dhritarashtra Syndrome

All going through Dhritarashtra Syndrome

Taking his/her answer further, Sadhguru explained the blindfoldedness of today’s generation by giving an example. he/she also told why it is important to have a personality like Ram.

‘The biggest problem of our country today is that we all are going through Dhritarashtra syndrome. Ram has been setting an example since thousands of years. Sita was pregnant when she was sent to the forest. Ram had a son in her womb. For a king, his/her sons are very important because he/she needs an heir to take over his/her empire.

Ram still sent Sita to the forest, because if he/she had not done so, there would have been an uproar among the public. You can see it in a negative light, but I believe that we need such PMs and leaders, who are ready to do anything for the sake of their nation.
