New Delhi. tech giants Apple on Wednesday it will begin selling spare parts and tools to repair certain iPhone handsets and Mac computers to its users for the first time. This self service repair program comes after years of pressure from consumer groups. Now Apple provides access to repair manuals and genuine parts. Apple started a program in 2019 where independent repair shops can buy its parts, tools and manuals. Apple said that in addition to its 5,000 direct authorized repair providers, it now has 2,800 independent shops in its program.

Under the self-service program, Apple will be able to buy those parts directly for repair after reading the customer manual. Apple said the online store will start with around 200 parts and devices. It aims to fix display, battery and camera related issues in iPhone 12 and 13 models. In addition, the program will be extended to Mac computers with Apple’s M1 chip and then general repairs.

Customers will be offered parts and devices at an independent repair shop at normal prices. At the same time, used parts will have to be returned to Apple after repair to get the discount. Apple said that this program will be launched in the United States of America early next year. A year later, it will expand to more countries.
Apple has introduced four iPhones under its latest iPhone Series 13 in September this year. These are the iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Along with this, Apple’s latest watch, Apple Watch Series 7 has also been introduced.
