If you were born in the UK

If you are married to a British citizen

To apply as the spouse or civil partner of a British citizen, you must have lived in the UK for the last 3 years.

If you have ILR permission

If your parents came to the UK before 1973, you must meet one of the following conditions:

  • You must have been born in the UK.
  • You must have come to the UK before the age of 18.
