Taking a significant step towards transforming the education system in India, the government has introduced APAAR ID (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry). This initiative is part of the ‘One Nation, One Student ID’ programme, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This is a unique identification system that has been created for all the students across the country. APAAR ID aims to simplify educational processes, better manage student data, and provide students with a more efficient, personalized and transparent learning experience.

What is APAAR ID?

APAAR, meaning Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry, a unique identification system designed for all students in India. Aapar ID acts as a permanent digital identity for the student. This initiative is part of the ‘One Nation, One Student ID’ program launched by the government, which is linked to the new National Education Policy of 2020. APAAR ID – A 12-digit code will help students digitally store, manage and access all their academic credits, including score cards, marksheets, gradesheets, degrees, diplomas, certificates.

Visit the official website of APAAR and ABC at apaar.education.gov.in?
On the APAAR website, students have to follow the below steps:
Verification: Visit the school to verify demographic details
parental consent: If the student is a minor, obtain parental consent.
Certification: Verify identity through school.
Creation of ID: Upon successful verification, APAAR ID is created and linked to DigiLocker for secure online access.
Important details for Apar ID:
To get APAAR ID, students are required to have the following details: UDISE+ Unique Student Identifier (PEN), Student Name, Date of Birth (DOB), Gender, Mobile Number, Mother’s Name, Father’s Name, Name as per Aadhaar, Aadhaar Number.

Benefits of APAAR Identity Card

Apar ID is a platform to consolidate and display academic records. It is an identity proof which can have many other potential benefits envisaged by the schools, state government colleges and universities to facilitate the smooth functioning of educational levels. It facilitates re-development of skills to move from early schooling to higher education and during employment. It also simplifies academic record-keeping for students.
The facilities mapped to APAAR include admissions, scholarships, concessions, credit accumulation, credit transfer from one institution to another, internships, certificates, job applications and verification of academic records. APAAR supports lifelong learning by keeping a continuous record of students’ academic and skill achievements, from elementary education to higher education and their professional careers.

If any student wants to check the status of APAAR ID generation, then as soon as the APAAR ID is generated, it is added to the students’ DigiLocker account. Students can find the virtual APAAR ID card in the issued documents section of DigiLocker. APAAR ID creation status can also be viewed in UDISE+ portal under APAAR module.
