New Delhi. When the Indian cricket team won the T20 World Cup last year, they were also with the players. In the celebration of victory, his/her wife and children along with the players also came out on the field. But such a celebration should not be expected in the Champions Trophy. This will be due to the new travel policy of BCCI. The board has made it clear that the families of Indian cricket players will not go along for the ICC Champions Trophy.

The Indian team has to play all their matches of the Champions Trophy in Dubai. Team India’s first match is from Bangladesh on 20 February. After this, will face Pakistan on 23 February. The Indian team will then take on New Zealand on 2 March. The tournament played in the hybrid model starts on February 19. Pakistan is the original host of the Champions Trophy.

The final of the Champions Trophy is on 9 March. That is, this tour is only less than three weeks, in which the BCCI will not allow the players to go along. Under the new travel policy of the board, the family can go with the players on 45 days or longer tour, that too for a maximum of two weeks.

A source of the board said, ‘If something changes, then the matter is different but now their family is not going with the players. A senior player asked about it but he/she was told that the new policy would be followed.

The BCCI’s travel policy states, ‘The player’s wife and children (under the age of 18) can stay together for a maximum of 2 weeks if they stay out of India for 45 days or more time on a foreign tour. When separated from this policy, they will have to get permission from coach, captain and GM operations. The BCCI will not bear the expenses for the period other than this. This policy was formulated after India’s 1-3 defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. (input language)
