Anupam Kher called Hansal Mehta a ‘hypocrite’, altercation over the film on Manmohan Singh, people also surrounded him/her

Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has been given a final farewell with state honours. he/she died on Thursday evening at the age of 92. While his/her last rites took place at Nigam Bodh Ghat in Delhi, there is a lot of debate on Twitter about the film ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ made on his/her life. Anupam Kher, who played the role of Manmohan Singh in the film, and filmmaker Hansal Mehta got into a tussle with each other. Both of them even called each other ‘hypocrites’. Whereas the general public has also jumped into this war of words between these two.

This war of words on Twitter (now X) started with a post by journalist and writer Veer Sanghvi. Sanghvi wrote in his/her post on Friday, ‘If you want to remember the lies told about Manmohan Singh, then you should watch ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ again. Not only is it one of the worst Hindi films ever made, but it is an example of how the media was used to tarnish the name of a good man.

Hansal Mehta gave 100% consent to Sanghvi’s post.

Re-tweeting this post of Veer Sanghvi, Hansal Mehta expressed his/her 100 percent agreement and wrote ‘+100’. While common users were commenting on this, Anupam Kher targeted Hansal Mehta by giving a long reply at 9:55 pm. Anupam Kher wrote that the hypocrite in this matter is not Veer Sanghvi but Hansal Mehta.

Anupam Kher called Hansal Mehta a ‘hypocrite’

Anupam Kher wrote, ‘Veer Sanghvi is not a hypocrite in this thread. he/she has the freedom to not like any film. But Mehta Hansal was the creative director of ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’. he/she was present during the entire shooting of the film in England! he/she gave his/her creative input and may have also charged fees for it. So his/her saying 100% on Veer Sanghvi’s comment is very messed up and has double standards!’

Anupam said- Hansal Mehta, grow up!

The actor further said, ‘It is not that I agree with Veer Sanghvi, but we can all do bad or indifferent things. But we need to accept it. One should not try to earn some brownie points from a particular section of people like Hansal Mehta. Hansal Mehta!! get older! I still have the pictures and videos from the shoot where we are together!’

Hansal Mehta hit back at Anupam Kher

Hansal Mehta also responded to this after about an hour and cornered Anupam Kher. he/she wrote, ‘Anupam Kher, of course I accept my mistakes. And I can admit that I made a mistake. Can’t I do this sir? I did my job as professionally as I was allowed to do. Can you deny it? But that doesn’t mean I have to keep defending the film or it makes me lose objectivity about my error in judgment.

The director said this on ‘Pankhad’

Hansal Mehta further wrote, ‘Regarding brownie points and hypocrisy, I would like to respectfully say that you are evaluating people on the same scale by which you evaluate yourself.’

Hansal Mehta made another post later

After this, Hansal Mehta made another post, wrote, ‘And by the way Anupam Kher sir…you can say whatever you want. If you want, you can abuse me. I am sorry if I have inadvertently hurt you. Sending you love. Whenever you want, we will talk and clear the situation. I will not allow trolls to make matters worse and have fun. Good night, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. To you and all the hyperactive trolls.

People said- If the film was false, you could have refused

Obviously, the discussion is happening on social media, so common people will also react to it. Commenting on this war of words, a user wrote for Hansal Mehta, ‘If you knew that this film is full of lies then you could have refused to make it. Anupam Kher is a Sanghi thinker, so his/her decision is understandable. Well, we are happy that this film was a big flop.

Anupam Kher bid last farewell to Manmohan Singh by sharing the video, said- spent 1.5 years with him/her, he/she was really a great person.

User said- What needs to be done for the sinful stomach

Another user has written, ‘What all has to be done for a sinful stomach.’ A third user wrote, ‘Whatever you say, a mistake has been made. Hopefully history will forgive Hansal Mehta and Anupam Kher.
