Anti-Hindu conspiracy in Canada? Temple attack, police silence, Trudeau government under question

New Delhi: The tension between India and Canada is increasing. Meanwhile, the Canadian temple was attacked by Khalistani supporters when the Indian consular camp was going on there. Many videos of attacks by Khalistani supporters are going viral on social media. PM Modi has also condemned this attack on Hindus in Canada and demanded action against the culprits. Canadian PM Justin Trudeau has also called it unacceptable.

PM Modi strongly condemned the attack

While posting on X, PM Modi wrote – I strongly condemn the deliberate attack on the Hindu temple in Canada. The cowardly attempts to intimidate our diplomats are equally condemnable. Such acts of violence will never weaken India’s resolve. We expect the Government of Canada to ensure justice and uphold the rule of law. Let us tell you that this statement of PM Modi is the second example in recent months, when he/she has raised the issue of alleged attacks on Hindus outside India. In August this year, he/she had raised with Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus the issue of alleged targeting of Hindus and other minorities following the change of power in the neighboring country.

‘Prosecution should be initiated against the culprits’

The Foreign Ministry has also expressed concern over this incident. The ministry has asked the Government of Canada to ensure the security of all religious places. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said that we condemn the incidents of violence carried out by fundamentalists and separatists at the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton city of Ontario on Sunday. We call on the Government of Canada to ensure that all places of worship are protected from such attacks. We also hope that those involved in the violence will be prosecuted. Amid the attack by Khalistani supporters, another video went viral on social media in which police were allegedly shown handcuffing a Hindu youth, which commentators compared to the George Floyd incident in America.

‘Khalistanis crossed the limit’

Canadian MP Chandra Arya described the incident as crossing a border by Khalistani activists. he/she said the incident reveals the infiltration of Khalistanis into Canadian law enforcement. he/she also questioned the attitude of the Brampton police towards the Hindus protesting against the attack. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has called this incident unacceptable. he/she said that everyone in Canada has the right to practice their faith. he/she has ordered an investigation into the incident. Trudeau wrote on ‘X’ that the incident of violence at the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton today is unacceptable. Every Canadian has the right to practice their faith freely and safely. Thank you to Peel Regional Police for their prompt response to protect the community and investigate this incident.

The Indian High Commission has expressed grief over this incident. he/she said that we are concerned about the safety of the applicants, including Indian citizens, on whose demand such events are organized with the full cooperation of local co-organizers. Despite these efforts by anti-India elements, our Consulate was successful in issuing more than 1,000 life certificates to Indian and Canadian applicants. Let us tell you that this is not the first time that Hindus have been attacked abroad. Such incidents have happened many times before also. The Government of India has demanded strict action in this matter.
