These days again corona infection is increasing in the country. In such a situation, it is necessary to talk about the anti-corona vaccine as well. If you have not taken any vaccine dose during or after the second wave, you can take it now. Along with this, if you have taken a dose of Covishield or Covaxin, but now you will be able to get the Covax vaccine as a booster dose. The anti-corona vaccine Covax will soon be available on the Covin portal for registration as a “heterologous booster” dose. Its cost will be Rs 225 per dose. Apart from this, GST will also be applicable on this. “Heterologous booster” means that “Covovax” can be given as a booster dose to people who have received another vaccine.
This step has been taken after a letter written by Prakash Kumar Singh, Director of Serum Institute of India, to the Union Health Ministry on 27 March. The Director of Serum Institute in his/her letter to the ministry had mentioned that Covax is a world-class vaccine and should be included on the Covin portal as a “heterologous booster” dose for adults.
Approval for inclusion in Covin Portal
Sources said on Monday that in view of increasing cases of corona infection, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has approved the inclusion of Serum Institute’s “Covax” vaccine in the Covin portal as a “heterologous booster” dose for adults. Last month, the COVID-19 working group also recommended the health ministry to include Covax in the portal as a heterologous booster dose for adults who have taken two doses of Covishield or Covaxin. This vaccine has already got the approval of World Health Organization and USFDA etc.
