Anarkali-Aishwarya, Jodha-Jaya, Abhishek-Amitabh Bachchan becoming Salim-Akbar! Remake of ‘Mughal-e-Azam’?


‘Mughal-e-Azam’ is an iconic movie in the history of Indian cinema. In this, the greats like Prithviraj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, Madhubala played the characters of Akbar, Salim, Anarkali in such a way that it got imprinted on the minds of cinema lovers forever. A South producer wanted to remake this historical film and he/she had decided to cast the entire Bachchan family for it. he/she wanted to cast Amitabh as Akbar, Jaya as Jodha, Abhishek as Salim and Aishwarya as Anarkali, but what happened then, filmmaker Mehul Kumar has recently revealed about this. Filmmaker Mehul Kumar recalled the incident when the famous South producer called him/her to discuss this. Talking to Bollywood Thikana, he/she said, ‘Once a big South producer called me and said that we want to remake ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ and we want to cast Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya ji, Aishwarya and Abhishek. he/she made a proposal.’ Mehul Kumar did not reveal the name of the producer, but said that he/she wanted to cast Amitabh Bachchan as Emperor Akbar, Jaya Bachchan as Jodha, Abhishek Bachchan as Salim and Aishwarya as Anarkali.

‘Mughal-e-Azam’s remake cannot be made’

When Mehul asked the producer if he/she had spoken to the Bachchan family, he/she told that the actor had asked him/her to talk to him/her (Mehul) first. he/she says, ‘I told him/her that Mughal-e-Azam cannot be remade. You are making a plan, but it will not succeed because people will compare it with the original movie because it is a historical film. Then he/she called Amit ji and said that Mehul Kumar has said this. Amit ji said that Mehul has said the right thing.’

The historical film was released in 1960

It is known that the film Mughal-e-Azam was made in the year 1960. It was made by K Asif. Prithviraj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, Madhubala and Durga Khote played important roles in this film.

Mehul helped Amitabh

Mehul Kumar supported Amitabh Bachchan in 1990 when he/she was trying to make a comeback in Bollywood. he/she made the film ‘Mrityudaata’ for the actor, but it flopped. he/she told on the YouTube channel of ‘Friday Talkies’ that when Big B was struggling for films, Amitabh asked him/her for a hot script. Mehul said, ‘This happened at the Rangeela music launch. Amit ji was also there. he/she met me and asked, ‘Sir, do you have any hot script?’ I asked, ‘For whom?’ So he/she said, ‘For me and for whom!’ Then I told him/her that I have something for him/her. Then he/she worked in Mrityudaata.
