Khalistan supporter Amritpal Singh may surrender today on the occasion of Vaisakhi. On Thursday, after the information about his/her being in Rajasthan, a search operation was conducted there. However, there was no success. Amritpal is absconding since 27 days. Amid speculations of surrender, security has been tightened across Punjab. Posters of Amritpal have been put up in Tarn Taran and Amritsar. At the same time, police is on alert in Bathinda as well. On Thursday, the police arrested two brothers who gave shelter to Amritpal in Hoshiarpur. Meanwhile, the Punjab Police has barricaded several places in the state.
On behalf of Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar, it has been announced to hold a religious conference at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib. Akali Dal Amritsar has been a supporter of Amritpal since the beginning. The police also have apprehension that Amritpal Singh may surrender in the Akali Dal Amritsar conference. Due to this, the blockade of police and paramilitary forces has been strengthened across the state.
Alerted to rural committees
There was talk about Amritpal that he/she might surrender till Vaisakhi. Due to this, the security of all religious places has been increased. The police have also instructed the rural vigilant committees formed in the six border districts to remain alert. The areas of Ferozepur, Fazilka, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Pathankot and Gurdaspur are included in these districts. All these districts are adjacent to the border of Pakistan. A special campaign was conducted here under the leadership of DIG Border Range Narendra Bhargava. he/she said that our effort is to nab the accused soon.
