Amitabh went bankrupt after the house was sold and the company came to a standstill, Rajinikanth revealed – used to work 18 hours a day

Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth will be seen sharing the screen after 33 years in Tamil action thriller ‘Vettaiyan’. They worked together for the first time in Hum (1991). At the recent audio launch of ‘Vettaiyan’, Rajinikanth praised Big B while talking about megastar Amitabh. Rajinikanth recalled how Amitabh had accumulated a lot of debt and would work 18-hour days to repay it. he/she even had to sell his/her house. Rajinikanth told that at the peak of his/her career, Amitabh Bachchan left everything and started living in solitude. However, that was for a very short time. Amitabh returned after launching his/her own company ‘Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited (ABCL)’. Unfortunately, ABCL also failed, leaving Big B bankrupt.

Rajinikanth recalled the difficult times when Big B had to sell properties in Mumbai including his/her Juhu house and how some people celebrated his/her downfall. Then Yash gave him/her a chance to work in ‘Mohabbatein’. Rajinikanth said, ‘One day he/she wore a monkey cap and went to Yash Chopra’s house because he/she no longer had his/her own driver as he/she could not pay him/her his/her salary.’

Rajinikanth further said, ‘he/she asked for work from Yash. Yash immediately brought a check and gave it to him/her, but Amitji refused saying that he/she would take it only if he/she was given the work and thus he/she got Mohabbatein. Soon, he/she got KBC too. he/she did anything and everything.

Big B used to work for 18 hours

The actor further said, ‘he/she did all kinds of advertisements. Seeing this, the people of Bombay industry laughed again. For three years, despite numerous health problems, he/she worked 18 hours a day and paid off all his/her dues. Not only did he/she buy back the old house, he/she also bought a total of three houses on the same street. That is Amitabh Bachchan. he/she is now 82 years old and still works 10 hours a day.
