Amitabh and Abhishek were not the first choice of Ram Gopal Varma for ‘Sarkar’, told why this film was made


‘Sarkar’ is considered one of the important films of Ram Gopal Varma as well as Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan’s career. But you will be surprised to know that Ram Gopal Varma’s first choice for this film was neither Amitabh nor his/her son Abhishek. Earlier the name of this film was ‘Nayak’ and the director signed Sanjay Dutt and Naseeruddin Shah. This disclosure has been made by Ram Gopal Varma himself in an interview. Ramgopal Varma said in a conversation with ‘Pinkvilla’, ‘When Sanjay Dutt was arrested in the 1993 blast case, I was working on a film called’ Nayak ‘. . Meanwhile, he/she was arrested. While waiting for his/her release, I created an action comedy, which proved to be a superhit.

Ram Gopal Varma said that Amitabh-Abhishek was not the first choice for ‘Sarkar’

Ram Gopal further said, ‘Since the film became successful, when Sanjay was released, we decided to make another action-comedy instead of a political film. However, the film did not work. If that film was not successful, I would not make this action-comedy. And then the ‘hero’ stopped and the title was also dropped. ‘

Asked if Ram Gopal Varma had first decided to make ‘Sarkar’ with Sanjay Dutt, he/she said, ‘Sanjay Dutt was going to play Abhishek in the film and Naseeruddin Shah had to play Amitabh’s role. ‘Sarkar’ was formed if ‘hero’ is not made. If I had made a ‘hero’, I would never make ‘government’ regardless of his/her performance.

‘Sarkar’ was inspired by ‘Godfather’

‘Sarkar’ was released in the year 2005 and was a political thriller. The film was inspired by the Hollywood movie ‘Godfather’. In this, Amitabh Bachchan played the role of a powerful leader, while Abhishek played the role of his/her son Shankar, he/she handles his/her father’s throne.
