America: Meeting held in Atlanta to protest violence against Hindus in Bangladesh




More than 750 protesters gathered in Atlanta on Tuesday for a demonstration organised by the Hindu community and its supporters to highlight the atrocities being committed against minorities in Bangladesh after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government.

The evening’s event began with an address by Congressman Sean Steil, who expressed solidarity with the Hindu community and called on the US government and State Department to intervene in Bangladesh to ensure the safety and well-being of the minority population. he/she stressed the need for lawmakers to condemn the ongoing violence in Bangladesh, which includes killings, attacks, and destruction of property.

Local Atlanta representative Sheikh Rehman also expressed support for the Hindu community and pledged to work with the Bangladeshi government to end the violence.

Protesters carried banners, placards and American and Indian flags and chanted “Hindu lives matter” and “UN, wake up.” The protest took place under police supervision on the sidewalk along Jimmy Carter Boulevard in Norcross.

The protest was organized by Dhiru Shah, Amitabh Sharma and Rajiv Menon, with support from various organizations and individuals. The organizers emphasized the importance of global Hindu unity to prevent such acts of violence from spreading to other regions.

The protesters raised slogans against atrocities against minority communities, especially Hindus, in Bangladesh and demanded justice from the interim government in Dhaka led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus and the international community, including Atlanta.

Local Atlanta representative Sheikh Rehman also supported the sentiments of the Hindu community and assured that he/she would do everything in his/her power to make aggressive outreach to the Bangladesh regime.

Earlier on August 11, following the resignation of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, thousands of Canadians protested in downtown Toronto to show solidarity against the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh.

Canadians of Hindu, Christian, Buddhist and Jewish origin gathered in Downtown Toronto. People were seen chanting slogans, “We want justice – Bangladesh Bangladesh” at the protest held in Downtown Toronto. The protesters urged the Canadian government to put pressure on the Dhaka government to protect Hindus in Bangladesh.
