According to government sources, these legislative proposals cover the oil sector, shipping, railways, aviation and disaster management. For example, the Oilfields (Regulation and Development) Bill, 2024, marks a significant shift from colonial practices by modernizing the terminology and opening up unconventional hydrocarbon exploration.

From merchant shipping bill to bill of landing

Similarly, the Merchant Shipping Bill, 2024, along with the Landing Bill, 2024, is designed to streamline maritime laws, make them more efficient and in line with international norms. Urban disaster management authorities have been included in the Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill. It will focus on local response systems. This will increase security and create employment in threat monitoring and emergency services. Government sources said that the objective of the Indian Aircraft Bill (Aircraft Bill) is to establish India as an aerospace hub.
