ALH Dhruv flight may take a long time, the full fleet is grounded since January 5, know the reason


Bengaluru: It may take a long time to resume the flight of ALH Dhruv i.e. Advance Light Helicopter. All Alh are grounded (not flying) since an ALH crash of Coast Guards on 5 January. The reasons for the crash will remain grounded until the investigation is completed. HAL Chairman DK Sunil said that the primary reason came to light that there is a crack in his/her Swash plate.

The chairman of HAL said that it would take 3 weeks to come to the final report of Alh Dhruv, after which the decision will be taken whether all Alh needs to be investigated or their flight should be started. Also said that we are also reviewing the training and maintenance process of personnel associated with Alh Dhruv fleet. he/she said that the Defect Investigation Team (DIT) is evaluating whether the accident occurred due to a particular helicopter problem or there was a general technical flaw.

28 helicopter crash in 25 years

The HAL chairman said that in the last 25 years, 28 helicopters have occurred, of which 13 occurred due to technical reasons, 13 due to human errors and 2 for unknown reasons. We have also held meetings with the Coast Guard to check the maintenance of these helicopters.

Army, Navy, Air Force uses Alh

Along with the Coast Guard, the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force three use Alh. The Army has around 145 ALH, the Airforce has 70 and the Navy has 18 ALH. They are all grounded right now that are not flying. Therefore, ALH is not visible this time in Aero India.
