Akhtar found a way to make Virat play at number 3 without any change in the team

New Delhi. Virat Kohli’s bat is not scoring runs in the T20 World Cup 2024. Virat’s poor form remains a topic of discussion before the final against South Africa. Many cricket pundits want Virat to come to bat at his/her regular position number-3. However, the Indian team management is adamant on playing him/her in the opening. If Virat plays at-3, then Yashasvi Jaiswal, sitting on the bench, is sure to get a chance to open with Rohit Sharma. If this happens, then Shivam Dubey is sure to be dropped from the playing-11. Pakistan’s fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has found a way to play Virat at number-3 without making any changes in Team India’s playing XI.

Shoaib Akhtar was discussing the India-South Africa T20 World Cup final match on his/her YouTube channel. During this, he/she said, ‘I want Rishabh Pant and Rohit Sharma to open and Virat Kohli should be sent at number three. If Kohli comes to his/her natural and normal position, then India’s problem will be solved. This is not his/her game, he/she likes to take time and hit loose balls and then he/she improves his/her strike-rate. So I am not sure that Kohli is a natural opener. So he/she is kind of stuck and if Rishabh Pant comes to open, the problem will be solved.’

Rishabh Pant is currently batting at number-3, Virat Kohli’s regular position in Team India. If Pant comes in the opening, then India can also get a combination of right and left-handed batsman in the beginning. However, this is possible only if Virat himself wants it or the team management instructs him/her to play at number-3. Virat performed brilliantly as an opener for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2024. During this, he/she also captured the Orange Cap. Due to which he/she is opening in the World Cup.
