India’s Kolkata and Vietnam’s Hanoi come second and third in the list with an AQI of 201 and 192 respectively. In Bangladesh, the AQI is based on five criteria pollutants, (PM10 and PM2.5), NO2, CO, SO2 and ozone. Dhaka has been battling the problem of air pollution for a long time.

Talking about pollution in Delhi, according to the Central Pollution Control Board, the air quality index in the capital was recorded at 406 on 22 December, which went up to 360 on 21 December. Along with this, talking about PM2.5, it has been recorded at 373 on Thursday. Delhi’s air has remained in the severe category for several months. The bad air of Delhi is causing respiratory diseases in people.

At the same time, according to SAFAR, the wind coming from the north-west direction in Delhi, increase in fog and drop in temperature are important causes of pollution.
