Agreed to resolve India-China border dispute on the principles laid down in 2005.. MEA told how NSA Doval’s visit to Beijing was

New Delhi: India and China have again expressed their commitment to resolve the border dispute. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal gave this information in the press conference on Friday. he/she said both countries have agreed to find an appropriate, practical and mutually acceptable framework based on the principles decided in 2005. The meeting was held between the Special Representatives (SR) of the two countries in Beijing on Wednesday. National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval from the Indian side and Foreign Minister Wang Yi from the Chinese side participated in this meeting.

Commitment expressed on resolving border dispute

The border dispute between India and China is a long standing issue. Tension on the border between the two countries had increased in 2020. The objective of this meeting was to maintain peace on the border and find a way to resolve the dispute. Both sides emphasized that a peaceful environment on the border is necessary for the development of relations between the two countries. The MEA spokesperson said that the two countries will continue talks based on the principles decided in 2005.

What did MEA spokesperson say?

Randhir Jaiswal, in response to a question, said that he/she can only talk about the press release issued by MEA. Actually, the question asked was that the six-point consensus was mentioned in the press release issued by China, although it was not mentioned in the Indian release. On this, Jaiswal said that we cannot say anything on the specific question about the six-point consensus. We can speak and give details on our press release.

Big update on Doval’s Beijing visit

Describing the Special Representative level talks held in Beijing, Randhir Jaiswal said that these talks took place on the 18th. Subsequently, we issued our press release. This meeting took place in accordance with the decision taken during the recent meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Chinese President Jinping in Kazan. In this meeting, discussions were held to maintain peace and stability in the border areas and to find a just, practical and mutually acceptable solution to the boundary question.

Know on which issues the two countries agreed

During the meeting, the two officials exchanged views on bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interest. Provided positive guidelines for cross border cooperation, including resumption of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, sharing of data on cross border rivers and border trade. They also agreed on the relevance of stable, predictable and friendly India-China relations for regional and global peace and prosperity.
