New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi claimed that the families of soldiers recruited under the Agniveer scheme do not receive any compensation if they die. On this, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh called Rahul Gandhi’s claim a complete lie. The Defense Minister told the Lok Sabha that if an Agniveer dies, his/her family receives a consolation amount of Rs 1 crore. Even on this, Rahul Gandhi stuck to his/her point and said that we have a different view and the Defense Minister has a different one. Only the families of Agniveers know what the reality is. On Rahul Gandhi’s statement, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju and then Home Minister Amit Shah demanded from the chair that the veracity of Rahul Gandhi and Rajnath Singh’s statements be investigated. Both told Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla that Rahul Gandhi should not be allowed to escape for his/her lies. Home Minister Shah said that this is Parliament, lies cannot be spoken here.

Rahul Gandhi narrated an incident while participating in the discussion on the motion of thanks on the President’s address.
