After Trump’s arrival, strategy is being made between India and China also! Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri visiting Beijing

New Delhi : Donald Trump has taken oath as President for the second time in America. After becoming the President, the eyes of the world as well as India and China are on America. Meanwhile, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri will visit Beijing on January 26-27 for the meeting of the Foreign Secretary-Deputy Minister Mechanism between India and China. This information was given by the Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday.

What issues were discussed between the two countries

The statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs said that the resumption of this bilateral mechanism arises from the agreement reached at the leadership level to discuss the next steps for India-China relations. This includes political, economic and people-to-people relations. Last month, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval visited Beijing to meet Chinese Vice President Han Zheng.

During the meeting, NSA Doval had emphasized that the resumption of the meeting between the Special Representatives of the two countries on the border issue after a gap of five years is an important step towards implementing the consensus reached between the leaders of the two countries. And it is of great importance for taking forward bilateral relations.

Agreement on other issues including Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

During the 23rd meeting of the Special Representatives (SRs) of India and China, India and China had also decided to give “positive guidelines” for cross-border cooperation and exchanges. This includes resumption of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, sharing of data on trans-border rivers and border trade. The meeting was attended by NSA Doval and Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and China’s Foreign Minister.

Modi-Jinping meeting took place in Russia

The two representatives had met in accordance with the decision taken during the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in the Russian city of Kazan on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in October 2024. It decided the future course of meetings to oversee the management of peace and stability in the border areas and to seek a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable solution to the boundary question.

PM Modi had told the Chinese President that India-China relations should be based on the three principles of mutual trust, mutual respect and mutual sensitivity.
